Myra Joy began playing cello at six years old. She holds a performance degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music where she studied under Jean-Michel Fonteneau, and she studied early childhood education at the College of the Redwoods. She is a certified Suzuki method cello instructor, and works with students from ages 4 to adult. Myra has over twenty years experience performing and teaching music. She has toured and recorded with a wide variety of artists across genres including: Hans York, Tim Weed, Hamed Nikpay, KITKA, Melanie O’Reilly, and The Black Brothers. She began her career teaching outreach for the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Community School of Music and Art in Mountain View, CA. She has also developed successful strings programs for public charter schools on the Mendocino coast where she ran a private music studio from 2009-2017. Myra now shares her love of music from her studio in the Snoqualmie Valley: Tolt Strings.
